Obituary of Francis J. McGoldrick
Francis “Frank” J. McGoldrick, age 81, beloved husband of Doris Luciano McGoldrick of Rocky Hill, died September 21, 2017 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his family. Born in Shelton on April 13, 1936, he was the son of the late Francis James and Mary Lunney McGoldrick, resided in Shelton most of his life and was a proud U.S. Army Veteran of the Cold War, serving in Bamberg, Germany for two years as an artillery surveyor. Mr. McGoldrick was a graduate of Bullard-Havens Technical High School and earned a B.S. Degree from Sacred Heart University. He was employed at the former AVCO of Stratford as a Quality Assurance Engineer for over 20 years, until the time of his retirement in 1993. Following his retirement, Mr. McGoldrick enjoyed substitute teaching and inspiring students at Emmett O’Brien Technical High School. He then served as an academic support tutor for Newington High in which he found great personal satisfaction. Residing in the Rocky Hill, Wethersfield and Newington area for the past 16 years, he was a 3rd Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus, Newington Council, a prior member of the Bernardo Council, K of C, Shelton. In addition to his wife of 56 years, he is survived by his devoted son, Francis “Frank” McGoldrick III and his wife, Maria, of Newington; a sister, Patricia Martnick of Seymour; cherished granddaughters, Emilia and Anna McGoldrick of Newington; brothers-in-law, John Barker and Stephen Novak; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Kathleen Barker and Mary Ellen Novak; and niece, Sheryl Novak Barone. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph Church, 424 Coram Avenue, Shelton on Tuesday, September, 26, 2017. Interment will follow in Mount St. Peter Cemetery, Derby. Family and friends may call on Tuesday Morning, prior to Mass, from 8:30 to 9:30 AM at the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia.
