Obituary of Adam Joseph Kopec
Adam Kopec, age 96 of Shelton, beloved husband of the late Stella Nasatka Kopec, died peacefully on April 6, 2018 at Griffin Hospital, surrounded by his family. Born in Derby on December 24, 1921, he was the son of the late Karol and Sophie Kopec and was a longtime resident of Shelton. A proud U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, he was a member of the Catholic War Veterans of Derby. Mr. Kopec worked as a machinist for the former B.F. Goodrich and Bullard Companies, until the time of his retirement. While employed, he owned and operated his own excavating and backhoe business for many years. Mr. Kopec enjoyed clamming, splitting wood and caring for his lawn well into his senior years. He is survived by his devoted children, Kenneth (Lee Ann) Kopec of Seymour, Robert (Lita) Kopec of CO and Carol (Michael) Tichy of Shelton; as well as 7 cherished grandchildren, Kristy Novitski, Kari Kopec, Kelley Farrell, Kaci Hancock, Robert Kopec, Jr, Felicia and Tonia Jahner; a beloved canine granddog, Daisy; 5 great grandchildren, Tyler, Haylee, Ryan, Paige and Jake and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Frances Tyska and brother, Edward Kopec. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at 9:00 AM from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM in St. Michael Church, 75 Derby Ave., Derby. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Derby.
