Obituary of Melania Lypen
Melania Lypen, age 93 of Ansonia, died peacefully on December 5, 2018, in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family. Born in Zdynia, Poland on April 6, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Maria Spiak Lypen. Ms. Lypen worked as an assembler and packager for the Better Package Co. of Shelton for 26 years, until the time of her retirement in 1991. She took great pride in cultivating her floral gardens that boasted perennials more than 20 years old and 2 stories tall. Ms. Lypen enjoyed cooking ethnic dishes for her family and was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church for many years. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Maria (Michael) Telep of Ansonia; sisters-in-law, Barbara Lypen and Luba Lypen of Derby; brother-in-law, Michael Pawlyk of Ansonia; a niece, Mary (Adam) Faass of Middletown and nephews, Michael A. Pawlyk of Ansonia and Andrew (Beata) Lypen of Orange. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by sisters, Anna Lypen, Helena Pawlyk and Martha Durkot; and brothers, Jacob and Peter Lypen. Funeral services will take place on Monday, December 10, 2018 at 9:00 AM from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM in Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 105 Clifton Avenue, Ansonia. Interment will follow in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Derby. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday morning from 9:00 to 9:45 AM, prior to Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to Sts. Peter and Paul Church.
