Obituary of Anna Krystyna Melnyk
Anna Krystyna Melnyk, age 88, of Seymour, beloved wife of the late Walter Melnyk, died peacefully on December 17, 2018 in the comfort of her home with her family by her side. Born in Skoraszewice, Poland on June 18, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Stanislaw and Katrzyna Stachowick Rybacki. Mrs. Melnyk immigrated from Poland to the U.S. in 1966 and resided in Ansonia before moving to Seymour 35 years ago. She worked as an electrical assembler for Sikorsky Co. for over 14 years, until the time of her retirement in 1994. She was a Communicant of St. Joseph Church of Ansonia and enjoyed cooking traditional polish dishes and baking babka. She is survived by a niece, Margaret (George) Janucik of Seymour; great-nephew, Christopher (Shima) Janucik of Shelton; great-niece, Michelle (Krzysztof) Dudzik of FL; and a sister, Wtadystawa Geglarek of Poland. In addition to her husband of 34 years, she was predeceased by three brothers and four sisters in Poland. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, December 20, 2018, at 9:00 am from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph Church, 32 Jewett Avenue, Ansonia. Interment will follow in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Derby.
