Obituary of Stephen Zuraw
ZURAW- Stephen Frederick Zuraw, age 22 of Ansonia, died June 25, 2009 at Griffin Hospital, Derby. Born in Derby on September 22, 1986, he was the son of Catherine Tremayne Zuraw of Ansonia and the late Stephen Zuraw. Early on, he served as an altar boy at the Parish of Sts. Peter & Paul. Stephen was a 2005 graduate of Ansonia High School. He was involved in sports throughout his entire 4 years, and was captain of the basketball team, golf team, and co-captain of the football team from 2004-2005. He was a member of the 1000 lb. club for weightlifting. Stephen recently graduated from Springfield College with a B.S. degree in exercise science and was to attend SCSU in the fall to pursue a graduate degree in exercise science. He had completed an internship with the UCONN Football Team. Stephen was always a fan of the NY Yankees. An avid music lover, he always enjoyed playing his guitar. In addition to his beloved mother, he is survived by a step-sister, Natalie Paskewitz and her husband, Clint; maternal grandmother, Jane Tremayne; paternal grandmother, Bette Zuraw; uncles, Geoffrey Tremayne and his wife, Kaye; and Raymond Zuraw; aunts, Cynthia von Oeyen and her husband, Richard, and Diana Rauch and her husband, Dr. Robert Rauch, and many loving cousins. He leaves behind many close friends about whom he cared deeply. His faithful dog and companion, Zake, will also miss him. A Mass of Christian Burial (MEETING DIRECTLY IN CHURCH) will be celebrated in Assumption Church, 61 North Cliff Street, Ansonia, on Monday, June 29, 2009, at 11:00AM. Interment will be private. Family and friends may call on Sunday, June 28, 2009, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia.
