Obituary of Marcia J. Dobrowski

Marcia J. Ploski Dobrowski, age 69,  beloved wife of Steven Dobrowski and mother of Steven A. Dobrowski, both of Ansonia,  died peacefully at the Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale New Haven Hospital on July 18, 2017  following a five year battle of cancer.   Marcia, a lifelong resident of Ansonia, was born on August 11, 1947 to the late Sophie and Adam Ploski.  She was predeceased by her brother Walter Ploski and sister-in-law Mary. She is survived by four nephews and a god-daughter. Marcia graduated from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and began her professional career working at Yale-New Haven Hospital in 1969 as a general floor nurse. She worked in a variety of roles in nursing administration before moving to information technology after receiving her Master’s of Business Administration Degree from Quinnipiac University in 1986. In this role, she led the implementation of a variety of patient software systems culminating in the hospital wide launch of EPIC in 2013. Marcia retired after 43 years of service and continued at YNHH as a volunteer. She loved to spend time with family and friends, travel, shop, cook, and playing cards. She was an active member of the Ansonia Library Board, Ansonia Commission for Elderly Services, St. Joseph's Church Parish Council, and YNHH Federal Credit Unit. A Mass of Christian Burial (MEETING DIRECTLY AT CHURCH) will be Celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 22, 2017 in St. Joseph Church, 32 Jewett St., Ansonia.  Interment will be private.  Family and friends may call on Friday, July 21, 2017, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM in the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale New Haven Health, in care of the funeral home.  Online condolences may be made at www.wakeleememorial.com.
